Black Screen on loading world
BRANCH: (None/Live-Test/etc) None
After 05/31/22 patch. I was partially able to play the game before when I am able to get past the server error...due to the server error I tried verifying game files etc and still got it created a new world and either before character customization or after the game has a black screen but shows the server version in the bottom right hand corner. I have to force close the game in steam. I have not modded the game.
I have tried
-Verify files: Steam > Right click on V Rising > Properties > Local files > Verify integrity of game files
-Restarting the pc
-closing all apps including antivirus and such.
Private server - solo and multiplayer

SteveI have the same issue. I am running my own server in solo mode. Black screen with mouse cursor and version on bottom right. Had to kill the process to get out of it. I have Win 11, Nvidia GeForce 1080, 16GB RAM.
Drivers are all up to date. -

Crowe MergedBRANCH: live
REPORT:
When did the issue start?
Ever since the dedicated server app was released.
Were you able to play the game before?
No, not using the dedicated server.
What happens? Please give as many details as possible.
My game goes through the connection process, loading 10/10, I see a brief "click to continue" and then I just get a black screen with a fancy cursor and a build/version number in the lower right.
Have you modified your game files or installed any mods?
No.
Can the devs reproduce the issue? How?
I have no idea. Depends on their skills.
Have you tried any solutions?
-Verify files
Yes. Uninstalled/reinstalled as well.
-Please try restarting your PC
I shut down my PC every night so it's getting frequent reboots. This has never worked.
For server issues, is the server Official / Public non-official / Private?
Private. I'm running the dedicated server from a second PC. Neither my wife's nor my main PC can connect.

Have you tried any solutions?

MadCatI have the same problem with the black screen and only have the build number at the bottom, I haven't been able to play the game yet through many updates, I'm trying to host a local server for PVE.
So far what I've tried
- Verified game files
- Restarted PC
- Updated video drivers
- Checked for Windows updates
- Tried windowed fullscreen and exclusive fullscreen
- Changed graphic settings High -> Low
I've also found out that Unity games need to know on what Monitor they are supposed to run on, otherwise they get an IndexOutOfBounds exception and the outcome is a black screen. I couldn't find logs about my problem but I thought I might be helpful to share this detail.
System:
Windows 10
Intel i9-9900K
Nvidia RTX 2080 TI
32GB RAM
I hope this gets solved soon.
EDIT: I dug deeper and found some interesting logs:
Forcing GfxDevice: Null
GfxDevice: creating device client; threaded=0
NullGfxDevice:
Version: NULL 1.0 [1.0]
Renderer: Null Device

J. SmithFixed my black screen issues.- on login / connection to my dedicated server.
When connecting to dedicated server it was showing click to continue/ create character sorta at same time... but would fade to black right away.
then had to kill v rising process to end it.
So.
I had to clear out my progress... deleted save files.
so when i connected again i had to create my player from scratch.. and all progress was lost.
kind of a bummer... since i have like 50 + hours in game.
o well.
I will make regular backups from now on just in case. -

BestarossaHi, I've found a potential workaround to this issue that preserves player progress:
1. Create a new private server with a different name to the original
2. Start the new server & progress to the point the character becomes controllable
3. Exit & go to the 'Continue' screen from the main menu, you should now see listings for your old server & the new server
4. Select your old server & click the 'Go to Directory' button, do the same thing for the new server so you have both saves open in file explorer & close the game
5. Open the AutoSave_0 folder for the new server (or whatever the most recent AutoSave is if you have more than one)
6. Open a recent AutoSave folder in your old server & use the files within to overwrite the data in the new servers folder (Note: the black screen error seems to corrupt the 'WorldData.save' file, so ensure that file is roughly the same size as the one its overwriting (~2049KB in my case), if it isn't check an earlier autosave)
7. Load up the new server. -

Krab MergedLoading into any server results in a black screen, only the HUD is visible.
A solution was found, that being changing the anti-aliasing mode, putting it here so if others have this same issue this might help. -
