Friends unable to connect through in-game server list. They must connect via steam friends instead.
Same happening to me, the weirdest thing. I can't connect on a server by myself, only if i get a invite to play from someone.
After the Gloomrot update my friends haven't been able to join my game and vice versa.
I've tried verifying files, restarting both my pc, steam and the game itself. The game is allowed in firewall. Pressing join game literally does nothing.
Also having this issue. In my instance the server is hosted by my friend on his machine and I am not able to join unless I get an invite or join him via steam friends, The connection just times out otherwise.
Can't join/invite friends through Steam. Trying to connect does nothing. I've seen a few other posts saying this same thing. In Steam there is no option to invite a friend. When clicking "join game" nothing happens. Allow joining through Steam setting is turned on. I completed the tutorial and found myself on the map proper, but still no invite option, and join doesn't work.

Same issue here. They click join game and nothing happens. When I right-click on them in the Steam friend list, the option to invite them to game doesn't even show up. They can't find my private game in the server list, even in direct connection. Worked just fine before GloomRot. :(
Exact same issue as Steve. Can't invite friends through Steam, and clicking "join game" does nothing.
To me the disconnect when i try to join without invite always happens during "Pre-warming Shaders" around the 1k. Anyone else or is it just for me? I tried every single thing i could find online trying to fix it, but only the invites do it. If no one is online on the server. i simply can't play.
Same issue as Steve. Can't invite through Steam, nothing happens when friend clicks "join game".

BRANCH: SoG Hotfix #2
I'm running a private server and while the option to 'Join Game' via the Steam Friends list is showing it doesn't actually let my friends join me. It just doesn't do anything. I don't see a pop-up dialogue nor do they. This is a new issue to this update, as I was able to play though the full game before the SoG update.
I have tried verifying game files and restarting my PC, but I still get the same issue.

I'm having the same problem as you guys. My friends can't connect with ''Direct connect''. They can only join when invited through Steam.
My server is appearing in the list, I can play smoothly, but other people cannot, unless I call them directly through steam, does anyone have a solution?
same here, can't connect to any server but can follow through steam friends.
I can also only join my friend's locally hosted game after he invited me via Steam. Selecting his server via the list with the recently played ones directly tries to load the game without giving me the possibility to enter the password and therefore fails.

I have the same problem, I can't play alone
Hello! In order to investigate this issue further we need some more information. Please attach the following files in an email to [email protected] with a short description of the issue:-A video of the issue
My friend has a server. Everyone but me can log in fine but I can only join if someone on the server invites me via Steam.
Hi. So I'm one of the ones unable to invite someone through Steam. I start a private game, and then open Steam friends list and right click on Friend. The option to invite Friend doesn't show. Friend can see "join game", but clicking it does nothing. Some things I've discovered: It's only with V Rising. If Friend opens Steam Overlay and rightclicks my name in the shortlist of friends at the bottom left, then clicks "join game", they get error saying "server not responding". I can join their game if Friend hosts. If Friend uses console cmd and enters "connect [my displayed SteamIPv4 address]", game tries to connect but times out. Now, if however Friend uses console cmd and enters "connect [my actual IP address for my pc]", the game actually connects and things work! Figured this info might help somehow.

For some reason whenever I try to connect to my friends server it asks the password and i put it in and then asks for a password and after i put it in it keeps asking me for the password and not letting me in the game
I'm experiencing this issue as well. I am unable to have friends join my game. I've tried making sure I'm online on Steam, verifying game files, and making sure steam is up to date. My friend has been able to get me into his game by inviting me via the steam overlay but I'm not able to load into his game directly from my server lists. When I try to load in via the server list, the connection times out. When he invites me via the steam overlay, it prompts me for the password and then lets me in.

Same here, if you try to join from Continue/Server list the server does not prompt for PW thus you won't be able to join.Invite through Steam works, also fyki for who did not discover this yet: you can just right click your friend in steam friend list and there you have a join option if he/she is already hosting. That way too the PW is prompted and the friend doesn't need to send an invitation.Although I find it somehow very vampire like if you couldn't enter without invitation :) :)

I have a problem. My server appears in the server list within the game, but I can't enter the server list through it. With the ip for direct connection people enter, only by the list of servers that do not connect. What can it be? I have already opened the ports through the firewall, people enter through the ip, they just do not enter through the server in the list, it appears and they do not enter through it.
Has this been fixed? I am just wondering. I'll hop back on the game if the issue has been resolved! Thank you :)
