Connection issues, can't connect to hosted server after Gloomrot Hotfix #1-2

When did the issue start?
-After Gloomrot hotfix #1, continued after hotfix #2

Were you able to play the game before?
-Yes

What happens? Please give as many details as possible:
-I join my friend's hosted server and after about 3 minutes of exploring and engaging in combat, there is tremendous lag and input delay. After 5 minutes, my character disappears from view and all UI is gone. To fix, I must either quit the game or wait some time for the game to potentially bounce back, but then the cycle repeats.

Have you modified your game files or installed any mods?
-No

Can the devs reproduce the issue? How?
-unsure, but happens every time I attempt to join, can't play multiplayer with my friend at the moment.

Have you tried any solutions?
-Friend has attempted to disable compression settings or extend auto save timer, but issues persist.

For server issues, is the server Official / Public non-official / Private?
-Private Server
