Black screen when loading in
After character creation or trying again to log into same server, it goes past the loading screen but then I get a black screen with what sounds like the main menu music playing. I can't access any menus or exit out the game without for closing it

REPORT: Issue starts right out of the gate after getting character creation done.
Were you able to play the game before? Yes, before the gloomrot patch
What happens? blackj screen and music but not able to do anything like move or see my character awaken in the crypt for the first time. This is a major bug in my opinion and should be swiftly squashed.
Have you modified your game files or installed any mods? none that i am aware of, clean install
Can the devs reproduce the issue? How? log in on my dedicated server, create a character and watch for the black screen
Have you tried any solutions?
-Verify files: Steam > Right click on V Rising > Properties > Local files > Verify integrity of game files
-Please try restarting your PC
For server issues, is the server Official / Public non-official / Private? Private dedicated, password protected

Report: After the new patch on 5/17, when I click PLAY, the game doesn't load it just sits there until i click then i get a black screen, i click again and it asks if i want to wait for the program to respond or close it . I could play the game without issues before this patch. I haven't modified my game files and haven't installed any mods.
I have tried verifying game files and restarting my PC, I have reinstalled the game twice, closed and opened steam multiple times but I still get the same issue. -

Arda Can Kozal MergedI had no issues before the update. I can't get past the Home screen video after the update. No matter how many times I click, I can't make progress. It stays on the black screen. My player file and screenshot are attached. I sent an e-mail with the player.log file

William MergedAfter creating a character like the title says just stuck on a black screen. It does not seem like a client issue since I was able to connect to a private server at random. Gportal private servers seem to be having this issue.

EruluthienMy brother setup a dedicated server and myself and one other in our group see the same thing.
V Rising installations are all fresh to include the server
Click to connect to the server and enter the password.
Create a new character and then click create.
Black screen with no way to exit or escape to menu. Only option, stop the game from Steam or force it closed from Task manager. -

KastleGhostUpdated game and it launches to Black Screen. No sound, no start menu, nothing. I click on the Black Screen and it asks if I want to wait for the program to respond.
Troubleshooting: Reinstalled game multiple times // Verified files multiple times // Launched Steam in Admin // Launched Game in compatibility Mode // Checked Drivers for GPU // Rebooted machine // Deleted Stunlock folder in AppData // Cleared %temp% folder // Nothing worked -

JamesI'm getting the same thing. I've tried a clean install, verified files, drivers are fully updated, running as admin, disabled firewall, closed all background programs...nothing works.

JoshI have this same problem as well. Except after a brief loading page image it goes black, steam says I am in menus but nothing I can see other than game version in lower right. No audio either.
so I tried a few things out:
Verified Game files - does not change
Reinstalled the game - does not change
Video driver update (nvidia 2070 RTX from Feb drivers to current May drivers, no game ready usage) no change
Tested launch as an admin - no change
Tested launch after disabling screen optimization
When this black screen happens - the game takes a few moments after black screen to register in Task manager. I see 2 Exe's running at same time for V rising with a 3rd one running as back ground process that is hung in a not responding state. (unable to duplicate multipe exe running at same time however)
My Rig:
RTX 2070
Core i7-9700
Win 10 enterprise 21H2
16GB RAM
Tried going through some older guides for this issue apparently it occurred previously. Nothing else seemed to work. -

JoshI did some testing - it seems if you block their EOS integration it breaks the game. I don't recall ever seeing EOS of any sort in the game, but if it was there before, it never had issues as I have blocked EOS for a few years now.
As soon as I took the EOS IP's out of my block file (hosts file).
Anyone else out there that blocks EOS or has AV that may have troubles with EOS, you might double check that to see if it fixes your game. I wont be bothering with V rising until this is addressed. I play the game locally, never multiplayer, EOS isnt needed nor should it be a startup check for a game that has not even made it to the menu... -

BellaThis is the second day and black screen in the character creation. I rent a server with g-portal and they have moved the server 3x now. The first day we were able to log in and play to find someone was on our server that should not have been on our server. i sent a ticket in and they moved the server then non of us could log in that morning. We(the clan) could see the character creation for only a few seconds then black and it has been black ever since.... I have verified the files, I have uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, and made sure all drivers were updated. I am getting a black screen but I can hear the music. I can play other games and my monitor has not gone black screen. Almost 79 days with no problems til the evening of 5/17/2023.

Jon IrenicusKinda same problem for me, When I start the game, I get black screen for like 5-6 seconds, but, I have an image for like 0.5 sec, so I made some tests. Lower the graph didn't do anything, but I put the game in windows mode, and everything works fine, except that I hate that mode... My main screen is a 2k gsync one.
I tried to launch the game on my second screen (HD without gsync) and everything is fine on fullscreen mode.
For my part, it seems to be a problem with Vsync or something like that after a patch (one of the 3 I think) after the launch of the free expansion.
Note, I tried to launch the game just after the free expansion update and everything worked fine on my main screen. For now, I'll play on windows mode :\ -

John LI am currently having exact same issue: black screen after launching game. I did not have any issues with the game until the latest patch. This is indeed very disheartening. Tried (1) reinstalling game (2) updated every drivers (3) verified the integrity. None of it worked.
