Opening V blood menu without a weapon equiped hides bosses

If you open the V blood menu without any weapon equipped, e.g. with the fishing rod equipped, your level is lowered due to not having the higher level equipment and you don't see the bosses that you can currently fight.
This occurs even thought the higher level equipment is in your inventory
