Nibbles the Putrid Rat Fight Resetting

The Nibbles the Putrid Rat fight keeps resetting. Regardless of the size of the room (big, small) or even in open air in my castle territory, and regardless of distance from Nibbles and the Vermin Nest, the fight will reset. Meaning Nibbles will break aggro and return to the vermin nest and its health will start to refill. Additionally, if aggro is gained after Nibbles has returned to the vermin nest, the fight triggers will keep happening i.e. health orbs will spawn multiple times each time his health resets and is lowered enough to trigger the health orbs spawning, or he will loop the same attack sequence, such as burrowing and summoning rats. Further, after Nibbles burrows and summons rats, upon reappearing aggro will break again and return to the vermin nest causing the fight to start to reset.

Tried:
-returning to main menu then loading game
-restarting game from steam

-unmodified game (no mods)
