Stygian Summoning Circle enemy did not drop loot

I summoned a Lesser Blood Soul from my Stygian Summoning Circle and he did not drop loot when I killed him. During the fight, he kicked me into the air and sent me outside my castle grounds, I had to run back inside to start the fight again.
