Mist Trance not working

I was fighting Sir Erwin The Gallant Cavalier, but all of his attacks went through mist trance entirely, damaging me. If this is an intended feature, I think the description of the ability should be more clear about what triggers the effect of the ability when hit, but since it says "melee and projectile attacks" I have to assume it's a bug.
