Can't break large resources in bear form or with explosives

I have tried for the longest time now to mine the big iron ores / large resoures but with no luck. I have check the forums and youtube for any tips on how to but the only thing i could find was it most be some kind of bug. My current gear level is 41 and was told it was changed to break large resources.
I hope it can be fix or it may just be me being bad at the game.
