Frequent Crashing
no matter what i do, the game crashes anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes after loading into the official server I'm playing on (us-w 3007). I've followed the FAQ and nothing has helped the issue. Running on Low settings seemed to help the game last longer. I'm running with Windows 11 on i7-14700K, RTX 4070 Ti, 32GB of RAM, so my computer meets the requirements. I've checked the windows event viewer multiple times and it seems to point to unity crashing. I've included a screenshot of my last entry in my Event viewer. I tried to stream the game shortly after the update launched if you want video footage of my crashes (https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2444867366 and https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2444892158)

not sure my thread should have been merged.. I would think my freezing issue is something other then the others. might even be NVidia 50 series drivers..
anyway. I have now found a couple repeatable freezes.
Bandit trapper camp. rode through on a horse. froze. restarted the game.
corpse ran back. froze again just outside the camp this time before I could make it to the corpse.
restarted. corpse ran back froze AGAIN. inside the camp.
4th time was the charm..
A second repeatable freeze.
3 times I have frozen when entering the Militia encampment, just north of the iron mine. just as I walk through the doors.
screenshots of the game being frozen. and the locations.

could this be shaders and related to nvidia 50series? -

Burak MergedThe game closes when logging in to the server. I can't log in to any server with the latest update.

Mad PedroI'm also having frequent crashing, but it doesn't look like yours. I've also followed the FAQ, but no avail. The game just disappears instantly, without any indication it is about to happen. It doesn't seem to be generating errors in Event Viewer, either. This only started after the update.

JamalI am having the same issue. It seems to be related to lib_burst_generated.dll as well as Unity issues and the 40 series Nvidia graphics cards. I have a 4090 RTX, and have tried every troubleshooting step I could imagine.
Other DLLs mentioned in crashes are UnityPlayer.dll, GameAssembly.dll (when lib_burst_generated.dll is renamed), and nvwgf2umx.dll (Nvidia). I have tried underclocking and limiting various settings, and have tried the latest drivers and Windows updates as well as rolling back to December for Nvidia drivers. -

Filippa AdminHello. We are currently investigating a number of crashes.
If you are experiencing frequent crashes, it would be a huge help if you could send the following files to logs@playvrising.com with a short description of the issue:
-Any recently created crash .dmp files, which are located in one of the following locations:
a) %appdata%\..\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\backtrace\crashpad\reports
b) %tmp%\Stunlock Studios\VRising\Crashes
Thank you for helping us track down the cause of this issue! -

cassandra Mergedevery 20 min or so, the game is freezing up. it freezes, then windows shuts it down.
There does not seem to be any pattern. casting spells, walking around, hitting rocks, hitting enemies. I guess.. it hasn't happened while building.
Windows is generating a 1001 error report, and 1002 "application hang" events.
dunno if any of the information here is useful, and should be linked..

nvidia 5070. updated drivers to most recent, today.
i5- 13600k.
32gb ram.
reset game settings, by deleting v1-4.
verified settings.
private server, solo no mods.
Vrising does not seem to be generating any .dmp files.
only very old, or does not exist at:
a) %appdata%\..\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\backtrace\crashpad\reports
b) %tmp%\Stunlock Studios\VRising\Crashes
its been a while since I last played. new vid card, and the most recent patch as only changes.
STEAM is generating dmp files. should I send those to logs@playvirising.com?

Martin MergedGame started crashing consistently during Loading Screen during server start up.
I was playing daily for about a week. All I did different today was that I lowered the graphics in an attempt to fix some rubber banding. I did attempt to revert these.
I have no mods at all.
I tried:
-Restarting my PC.
-Updating graphics card drivers.
-System requirements are met.
-Reset game settings by deleting the "v1", "v2", "v3", and "v4" folders.
-Verified game files via Steam.
-Reinstalling the game.

JamesI sent in WER, crash logs and dmps. Since 1.1 release the game constantly crashes due to Unity player.dll and lib_burst_generated.dll. these also appear to not be registered dlls in Windows 11. Regsvr32 fails on them. Ran sfc and dism, even file integrity and reinstall of the game.
-
06 May, '25
JamalNot sure if this is relevant but these crashes with UnityPlayer.dll and lib_burst_generated.dll were happening at least a week before the 1.1 update. So it could have been a change implemented before 1.1. Though the crashes started less frequent, maybe once an hour or so. After 1.1 it became every 20 minutes or less.

Rob WSo I've been having loads of crashes myself and had a look into the crash dump with WinDbg and the most common faulting component is Unityplayer.dll. Looking into this and doing some testing I've been able to mitigate all but one of my crash situations which is switching screens while in game.
From reading forums there is a pretty well documented issue with the Unity Game Engine and having X.M.P memory profile enabled. This kind of makes sense in that I've had similar issues in other games that use the same game engine.
My gut feeling since that this game used to be fine before the 1.1 update is that it may be an unhandled exception in the new game files which is triggering the memory access violation. I get an AMD notice that there has been a driver timeout, the Unityplayer.dll error noted in the crash dump that show the memory access violation.
Either way, something in the code isn't happy with system memory requests that look to be masked as GPU drive timeout! -
06 May, '25
Rob WSo just to add to my previous post I've now been able to play the game for several hours without it crashing. The down side is that I had to disable the X.M.P profile on my memory so rather than running @ 3600 its @ 2133!
If any of the dev's want to reach out and test anything drop me a message on Discord: 330894116080713729 -

cassandraMy "application hang" issue seems to have been solved. it hasn't happened the last couple times I've played.
-

cassandraheh. go like 3 days without the hangups. make a post and suddenly got another.
Also, proper crashing now. and generating .dmp files in the appdata location. sent those along. -
12 May, '25
Rob WSince my last post on 6th May and the introduction of Hot fix 5 my work around of disabling X.M.P no longer works. Unfortunately I am now completely unable to play the game at all.
One of the tags on this thread is that there is "More information needed". If one of the dev's wants to do a remote session to gather whatever data they need, I'm happy to facilitate that, my discord is as follows:

JamalIs this just not going to be updated? It has been a top upvoted issue for some time now with no real response from the devs. We have all sent our crash logs in, and the game is still unplayable for more than 20 minutes on a high end graphics card over a month later. I have to play on my old PC with a 2080 to play the game.
-

RKirbyI also want to emphasize the necessity of fixing those crashes. I already downgraded my game so much that potato graphics shouldn't actually crash - But here we are - Any update or anything on this topic would be nice. I can also provide a screenshare or something if that helps.

SkiI was having this crash issue on my old build, figured it was time for some hard ware upgrades. Made a monster of a PC, plague innocence graphics maxed, no issues . Vrising on minimum graphics unplayable. Event viewer says my graphics card times out and forces the crash. Two separate pc’s the only thing in common with this crash is vrising.

AnonymousI'm having the exact same issue, I'm on a 5070 ti, I have done everything everyone has said to do. Nothing works. This has supposedly been an issue for months and yet no fix has been released. This is a game breaking issue for many people, I can't even play the game for more than five minutes maximum without it randomly freezing and crashing.
