  Defeating Sir Erwin will give the "Complete Act 2" achievement for Octavian instead. This occurred for me on Brutal difficulty.

  I have never killed Octavian on brutal difficulty before. I received the Steam achievement for doing so after the new V Blood Sir Erwin.

  When beating Gaius the caviller commander on brutal difficulty it rewards the player with the achievement for beating Octavion on brutal mode.

  Hello, so my friend and i killed Erwin, one of the new bosses added with the Oakveil update, and she got the achievement to kill Octavian, the final act 2 boss for killing him, currently they are at 47 Item level so they didnt even know who octavian was

  -What exactly is happening?
  I got the steam achievement "Completed Act 2 on Brutal Difficulty" after killing and draining Sir Erwin the Gallant Cavalier. I have not killed Octavian the Militia Captain. I am playing on one of the official servers US-West. The server difficulty is set to Brutal. I did kill him with two others (not in the same clan) who were higher gear score level.

  Playing with a friend who just got the game, beat Sir Erwin the Gallant Cavalerier and he unlocked the achievement for beating Octavian/Act II. Picture is of my steam page showing his achievements.

  After killing Sir Erwin the Gallant Chavalier, I got the achievement for killing Octavian the Militia Captain whilst he hadn't been killed in this session. The achievement wasn't completed in advance. As this is wrong, I would ask you to look into it and find where the code spaghettafies. Hope it isn't too entangled.
  It was a private server. I was not the host, and no mods were added.

  - Completed the Ser Erwin fight with friends on Brutal difficulty (we are hosting a private server as well if that might affect anything) and after we drank his blood, we all got the achievement for completing Act II on Brutal, even though we have not touched Octavian & have many of the bosses that we've yet to touch.
  
  - Just the norm of running around doing boss rush. Nothing overly special, weird, or modded.
  
  - After consuming Ser Erwin's blood we got the achievement.
  
  - No mods or installed any extra files. We are using a paid-private multiplayer server through the V Rising Pocket Host.
  
  Thank you for your time and thank you for the amazing fight (he kicked our butts so many times it isn't even funny anymore lol). ♥

  Steam achievement related to Commander Octavian. I started playing the new DLC on high difficulty. Killed the new boss "Sir Erwin the Gallant Cavalier" and I was given the achievement for completing the second chapter.

  My friend and I are doing a brutal play through for the first time. When we killed the new v blood Sir Erwin the Gallant Cavalier, we both got the achievement 'Completed Act 2 on Brutal Difficulty (Defeat Octavian the Militia Leader and complete Act II on Brutal Difficulty.)'
