Unable to Start Solo Game – “Error: server error” at Connection 1/5
Hi,
After reinstalling the game recently, I can no longer start a solo/private game. When I attempt to create a new game, the process gets stuck at "Connection 1/5", then displays the message: "Error: server error." No crash occurs — the game just returns to the main menu.
The issue occurs even though I have deleted all previous save files. I'm trying to start completely fresh.
Interestingly, I can join public PvE servers without any issue, so this problem only affects local/solo game creation.
Troubleshooting tried:
- Restarted PC
- Verified game files on Steam
- Deleted all old saves
- Reinstalled the game
- Deleted the v1, v2, v3, and v4 folders from:
%appdata%\..\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\Settings
- Updated graphics drivers
- Confirmed system meets requirements
- Temporarily disabled antivirus and firewall, and added the game to exceptions — did not solve the issue
- I have not modified any game files and have no mods installed

I have this same issue after the latest update. I haven’t tried connecting to other servers but I can’t start a local solo game. I have done all of the above troubleshooting steps to no avail. Both modded and vanilla share the same issue. -

A MergedGood morning all, To whom this needs to be directed to. I have looked over the support and also on the net to see if there is a way to sort out my issue but I have been unsuccessful.
About a week ago I started playing again on the new patch on a private server. I started from scratch played for around 12 to 14 hours for 3 days. On the fourth day I found that I couldn’t log into the server. I tried around 10-12 times but I can’t get the server to load. I reinstalled and still the same issue.
I then decided to try and start a new game and it worked. So I deleted the last game and started a new game. However, after only one day it would be the same error and not load the server.
I am playing on a private server as the option gives.
Please advise as to how to proceed. Thank you for your time. -

Malik Aman AdminHello! We've had reports of similar crashes due to missing local files. Please try verifying files via:
-Steam > Right click on V Rising > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files
If this does not resolve the issue, please send the following files to logs@playvrising.com :
-The Player.log file and the Player-prev.log file from the session where the issue happened
(located here: %appdata%\..\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising)
-The Player-server.log file and the Player-server-prev.log file from the session where the issue happened, if you are the server host
(located here: %appdata%\..\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising)
-The crash .dmp file, which should be located in one of the following locations:
a) %appdata%\..\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\backtrace\crashpad\reports
b) %tmp%\Stunlock Studios\VRising\Crashes)
